Bernard Kokonu’s second-half strike secured Dreams FC their first win of the season as they stunned Basake Holy Stars at the AAK II Sports Arena on Sunday.
The victory ended Holy Stars’ perfect home record and offered some relief to Winfred Dormon, whose side had endured a difficult start to the campaign.
The hosts were reduced to 10 men in the 33rd minute when Bismark Teye was sent off in a fiercely contested first half.
Dreams capitalised on their numerical advantage after the break, with Kokonu breaking the deadlock in the 50th minute. The visitors then held on to their slender lead to claim a much-needed three points.
The defeat sees Holy Stars drop to 10th in the league standings, with Abdulai Gazale’s men now looking to bounce back when they travel to face Port City.
Dreams, meanwhile, remain bottom despite the victory but will hope to build on the result when they host debutants Debibi United in their next fixture.
