Heart of Lions produced a late winner to secure a thrilling 2-1 victory over Bechem United in their Matchweek 9 encounter at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Dzi Woa Nu, who are still without a permanent head coach after Kasim Gokyildiz left last week, secured their second home win of the season after a hip-cracking encounter that was decided in the dying embers.
Heart of Lions made a bright start and took the lead in the 22nd minute through Stephen Afoakwa, who found the back of the net to put the hosts in front.
However, Bechem United responded strongly and restored parity through experienced forward Augustine Okrah, who calmly levelled the score in the 38th minute to ensure both sides went into the break on equal terms.
The two teams continued to battle for control after the restart, with the game seemingly heading towards a draw.
However, Heart of Lions had the final say when William Oduro struck in the 86th minute to send the home supporters into celebration and hand the hosts all three points.
The victory moves Heart of Lions up to 12th place in the league standings with 11 points, while Bechem United remain eighth with 13 points after nine matches.
Heart of Lions will now turn their attention to a difficult away assignment against Hearts of Oak in Accra as they seek to build on their latest victory.
Meanwhile, Bechem United have suffered their fourth defeat of the campaign, increasing the pressure on head coach Mohammed Bashar Ogba to improve the team's results.
The Hunters will have an opportunity to return to winning ways when they welcome FC Samartex to the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in their Matchweek 10 fixture.
