Hearts of Oak’s three-match winning streak came to an end on Sunday after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Debibi United in their Ghana Premier League Matchday Nine encounter at Debibi Presby Park.
Sarkodie Demetrous scored the decisive goal in the 51st minute, finishing off a well-worked attacking move by slotting the ball past an advancing Benjamin Asare.
The Phobians entered the contest hoping to extend their winning run and maintain their position at the top of the league standings. However, they struggled to impose themselves and left Debibi empty-handed, dropping to third place.
Although Hearts were competitive for periods, they failed to reach their usual level in midfield, an area Debibi controlled more effectively.
The visitors also struggled to create clear-cut scoring opportunities, making it difficult for them to find a way back into the contest after falling behind.
Debibi, meanwhile, delivered an important response following their recent defeat to Bechem United. Demetrous’ second-half strike proved enough to secure all three points and lift the hosts out of the relegation zone.
