ARS 1-0 HUL: Match Review And Updated English Premier League Table

According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, November 7, 2026, Arsenal secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Hull City at the Emirates Stadium to record their fifth consecutive Premier League win.

Martin Odegaard scored the decisive goal in the 72nd minute as the Gunners eventually broke down a stubborn Hull defence after struggling to create clear-cut opportunities during much of the encounter.

Arsenal, who were looking to maintain their impressive start to the campaign, found themselves under pressure early in the contest as Hull threatened to produce an upset.

The visitors created the first opportunity inside two minutes when John Egan headed a corner towards goal but sent his effort into the side-netting.

Arsenal struggled to establish their usual attacking rhythm, while Hull remained organised and continued to frustrate the home side.

David Raya was called into action when former Arsenal youngster Semi Ajayi directed a header towards goal. The Spanish goalkeeper also produced an important save to deny Elliot Stroud, tipping his effort from a tight angle away from danger.

At the other end, Declan Rice came close with a half-volley that narrowly missed the target before forcing Konstantinos Tzolakis into a save with a free-kick.

Christos Tzolis also had opportunities to put Arsenal ahead but failed to convert his chances. The forward first saw his back-post header comfortably saved before sending a subsequent volley well over the crossbar.

The Gunners were further frustrated when their appeal for a penalty was rejected after Kai Havertz went down under a challenge from Nobel Mendy. However, the Arsenal striker was judged to have been offside in the build-up.

The second half initially followed a similar pattern, with Arsenal continuing to search for a breakthrough against Hull's disciplined defence.

Noni Madueke tested Tzolakis with a powerful right-footed effort, but the Greek goalkeeper produced an impressive save to keep the visitors in the contest.

Mikel Arteta subsequently introduced fresh players, including Eberechi Eze, in an attempt to improve Arsenal's attacking threat. Eze came close with an effort that curled over the crossbar.

The breakthrough eventually arrived in the 72nd minute when Madueke's shot was parried by Tzolakis, allowing Odegaard to react quickly and fire the rebound into the net.

Arsenal pushed for another goal, with Mikel Merino forcing a save from distance before Madueke nearly doubled the advantage. However, his attempt to round the goalkeeper resulted in the ball heading towards goal before Hull cleared it off the line.

The Gunners held on to secure all three points and register their seventh Premier League clean sheet of the season. The victory gave Arsenal nine wins from their opening 10 league matches, equalling their best-ever start to a Premier League campaign.
