Kruger United Break Silence On FIFA Break As Sporting Director Sends Strong Message

Kruger United have made it clear that they are not prepared to allow the FIFA international break to disrupt their progress, with the club's sporting director insisting that there is no reason for negativity despite the timing of the interruption.

The Mpumalanga-based outfit had started showing encouraging signs in recent matches, building momentum and collecting important results after what may have been a challenging period. However, the international break has arrived at a time when the team would arguably have preferred to continue playing and maintain their improving form.

For clubs trying to build consistency, interruptions to the domestic football calendar can present a difficult situation. Just when players begin finding rhythm, coaches establish combinations and confidence starts growing within the dressing room, a break in competitive action can temporarily slow that progress.

Nevertheless, Kruger United are choosing to approach the situation with a positive mindset.

The sporting director's message, "We can't be negative!", reflects the club's determination to focus on the opportunities presented by the break rather than becoming frustrated by its timing.

Speaking to Soccer Laduma, sporting director Elasto Kapowezha admitted that the timing of the FIFA break was not ideal, particularly because the team had been making significant progress in the Betway Premiership.

Kapowezha explained that one of the biggest challenges facing the club is finding suitable opponents for friendly matches. Unlike teams based in areas with several professional clubs nearby, Kruger United have limited options in Mpumalanga when it comes to arranging competitive preparation matches.

He pointed out that although The Bees are available as a possible opponent, repeatedly playing the same team would not provide the variety required for proper preparation.

Despite these difficulties, the sporting director believes the club must find constructive ways to use the available time. Rather than allowing the interruption to affect the team's confidence, Kruger United intend to concentrate on improving different aspects of their game.

The Village Boys have good reason to remain encouraged following their recent performances. Their impressive 3-1 victory over Richards Bay on November 1 was particularly important, with Wonderboy Makhubu, Ebrahim Seedat and Mancoba Zwane getting on the scoresheet.

That result marked their third league victory of the season and lifted them to ninth position on the Premiership standings, providing further evidence that the newcomers are gradually adapting to the demands of top-flight football.

The improvement has also strengthened the belief within the club that they can achieve something special in their first Premiership campaign.

Attention will now turn to their preparations for the remaining fixtures, with a challenging home encounter against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns scheduled for November 28.

For Kruger United, the objective will be to return from the international break with the same determination and confidence that have characterised their recent performances.

Kapowezha's message is therefore an important reflection of the club's mentality: setbacks and interruptions should not become excuses. Instead, they must create opportunities to improve.

If the Village Boys can maintain their current progress, the international break may ultimately prove useful as they continue building towards a successful debut seaso in South Africa's top division.
