Kelvin Etemesi, a striker with Marumo Gallants, has issued a warning to Bafana Bafana in front of Kenya's next double-header qualifying match against South Africa for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Etemesi is of the opinion that Bafana Bafana are not unbeatable, despite the fact that they have been doing exceptionally well over the past few years. He is also of the opinion that Kenya possesses the strength to create difficulties for the South African national team.
The statements made by the striker come at a time when Kenya is getting ready to play two crucial matches against their southern African neighbours in the competition to qualify for the African Cup of Nations tournament in 2027.
In particular, South Africa has established themselves as one of the competitive national teams on the continent, notably as a result of their outstanding performance at the 2023 African Cup of Nations competition, when they finished in third place.
Etemesi, on the other hand, is of the opinion that Kenya should not approach the upcoming matches with fear because, in his opinion, there are several opportunities for Kenya to compete with Bafana Bafana.
The striker for Marumo Gallants has also provided some insight into the expected tactical approach that Kenya would use, indicating that the team will need to be disciplined and structured in order to compete against their rivals.
While Kenya is anticipated to concentrate on restricting South Africa's possibilities to attack, they should also make the most of any openings that present themselves whenever they press forward. It is possible that such a strategy would be beneficial while playing against a Bafana Bafana team that has a number of players who are technically brilliant.
Due to the competition that exists between the countries that are geographically close to one another and the significance of accumulating crucial points throughout the qualifying campaign, it is anticipated that the two matches will garner a significant amount of interest.
A further opportunity for South Africa to demonstrate their strength and continue to pursue their goal of qualifying for the continental competition will be presented to them by the fixtures.
Kenya, on the other hand, will be trying to make life difficult for the South Africans by utilising their home advantage and the tactical preparation they have done.
Etemesi's self-assurance will undoubtedly serve as a source of motivating inspiration for Kenyan spectators, despite the fact that the outcome will ultimately be determined by the performance of both sides on the pitch.
It is likely that Bafana Bafana is conscious of the fact that underestimating their opponents could result in unneeded complications, particularly when playing against a Kenyan team that is intent on making things clear.
Both teams will have the chance to showcase their abilities as they advance toward their goals of competing in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) thanks to the fact that they are set to face each other twice.
