Wandile Duba Scores a Hat Trick Against TS Galaxy, Putting Kaizer Chiefs in the Record Books
Kaizer Chiefs forward Wandile Duba will go down in club history after his incredible hat trick in Amakhosi's 3-0 Carling Knockout Cup last-16 triumph over TS Galaxy.
In addition to cementing his spot among the club's illustrious hat-trick scorers, the 22-year-old forward's sensational effort helped Chiefs advance to the quarterfinals. The 2026–27 campaign has been positive, and his success marks a key milestone in that regard.
The Chiefs now have 24 players who have scored hat tricks since the 1996–97 season, with Duba becoming the latest addition to that list. Not only that, but he becomes just the 19th Amakhosi player to do so in all Premier Soccer League competitions.
His feat is all the more remarkable given that he became the first Chiefs player to ever score a hat trick in the Carling Knockout Cup. Since Caleb-Bonfils Bimenyimana scored three penalties in a 3-1 league win over Stellenbosch FC, the club has been without a hat trick scorer. The academy graduate has also ended that drought.
His most recent goal solidified his place as the Chiefs' top scorer for the season, and the youthful attacker continues to impress. His increasing importance to the squad is demonstrated by his six goals in seven games across all competitions.
The greatness of the Amakhosi team in the past is echoed in his accomplishments. Marks Maponyane's hat trick in a 1987 knockout cup match against Durban City elevated Duba's performance to a legendary level.
But the club's all-time leading scorer in hat tricks is still the late Patrick "Ace" Ntsoelengoe, who scored 14 in all competitions.
Up next for Chiefs is getting ready for their Carling Knockout Cup quarterfinal match against Siwelele FC, which is set to take place on November 7th and 8th
For Duba, the most pressing issue is keeping up his stellar scoring form while assisting Amakhosi in their quest for trophies this season.
