Zimbabwean defender Teenage Hadebe has once again swapped shirts with football legend Lionel Messi. The former Kaizer Chiefs star, who now plays for FC Cincinnati in Major League Soccer, faced Inter Miami again and walked away with another Messi jersey. This is the second time Hadebe has exchanged shirts with the Argentine superstar.
Last year Hadebe received a Messi jersey after a playoff match and later gifted it to Zimbabwean businessman Scott Sakupwanya, the owner of Scottland FC. He did this to celebrate Scottland’s league success and to show appreciation for the work being done to grow football in Zimbabwe. Some social media users have claimed that Hadebe sold the first jersey. However, reports and posts from the time confirm that he gave it away as a free gift. Many people praised the gesture as a classy move that put national pride first.
Now that Hadebe has secured another Messi shirt, fans are already asking what he will do with this one. Will he keep it this time or pass it on again? The Warriors defender continues to make headlines both for his performances in the United States and for his generous spirit back home. Getting not one but two jerseys from Messi is a rare achievement that many players can only dream of.
