Free To Leave In January: Look At The R50 Million Sundowns Maestro Who Is Officially Packing His Bag

As Sundowns prepare to lose important midfielder Marcelo Allende, Cardoso makes a plea.

Miguel Cardoso, the head coach of Mamelodi Sundowns, is hopeful that the club's management can persuade Marcelo Allende to stay longer at Chloorkop, as the Chilean midfielder is poised to make a significant choice regarding his future.

Since joining the Sundowns team in August 2022 from Montevideo City Torque in Uruguay, Allende has grown in importance. However, the reigning South African champions are starting to worry about losing him because his current contract is supposedly set to expire at the end of this season.

Cardoso has expressed his desire to keep the midfield player with the team, complimenting not only his on-field achievements but also his professionalism and influence in the locker room.

Cardoso Highly Appreciative of Allende

The Portuguese coach praised the 27-year-old after Sundowns defeated Golden Arrows 1-0 in the Carling Knockout Cup quarterfinals.

Cardoso emphasised Allende's dedication to training and games, calling him one of his team's most reliable players.

According to the coach, Allende frequently travels 12 miles during games, exhibiting the discipline and work ethic that have made him a key member of the club.

Cardoso also complimented his disposition, characterising him and his family as amazing individuals.

He stated unequivocally that Sundowns would make every effort to retain the midfield player for a long time.

The coach claims that players like Allende contribute to the development of the values, morals, and mindset that characterise the club's atmosphere. Additionally, he thinks the Chilean improves the football skills of people around him.

Allende Makes the Final Decision

Sundowns are unable to decide on the player's behalf, despite Cardoso's fervent desire to keep him.

Allende has previously stated that he had not been talking to other teams and was focused on his last season with the club.

The midfield player has insisted that helping his teammates is just as vital when he is not playing, and he has continued to concentrate on putting up performances whenever he is called upon.

Despite this, his contract issue has drawn attention, with reports indicating that clubs outside of South Africa may be interested in signing him.

Potential suitors might find him appealing because he might leave as a free agency at the end of the season.

A Big Loss For Sundowns?

Allende has made a name for himself as a reliable midfielder who can contribute both offensively and defensively since joining the Brazilians.

His enthusiasm, technical proficiency, and comprehension of Sundowns' style of play have made him a valuable member of the team.

Cardoso and the club's technical team would therefore face difficulties if he were to go, especially because they are still vying for continental and national awards.

For the time being, Sundowns fans will be hopeful that the club's management can work out a deal with the midfield player before his contract ends.
