Golden Arrows Confirm Starting XI for Sundowns Clash as Ncikazi Makes Key Selection Decisions

In preparation for the Carling Knockout quarterfinal match against Mamelodi Sundowns, head coach Mandla Ncikazi has named a solid starting lineup for Golden Arrows.

Defeating Sundowns, a team that has often battled for big trophies in South African football, would be no easy feat for the Durban-based outfit as they seek a semi-final spot.

The starting lineup for Ncikazi's defence is Msibi in goal and Jiyane, Msomi, Agnikoi, and Sithole.

Junior Dion will have attacking support from Gasa and Zwane, while Shezi, Maluleke, and Maxwele will start in the middle of the pitch.

Arrows, according to their starting lineup, will try to challenge the Tshwane giants with a mix of defensive organization and attacking movement.

The starting eleven for Golden Arrows:

Msibi, Msomi, Moji, Sithole, Maluleke, Maxwele, Gasa, Zwane, and Dion are all members of the group.

Alternate names:

Barry, Mbanjwa, Mabaso, Nguse, Khumalo, Van Neel, Karelse, Cele, and Moli (not pictured).

The decision to start Junior Dion up front is one of the more intriguing choices. It is believed that the striker will take the lead and be a danger in the final third, especially when the Arrows get the ball and push forward.

Important roles to play in assisting the attack and setting up teammates for opportunities will also fall on Gasa and Zwane.

Ncikazi had already stated that his team's inability to score goals in the opposition half was his main worry, and now this news follows suit.

The coach of the Golden Arrows recently voiced his displeasure with the club's offensive production, saying, "But I'm just concerned about us in the attacking third." He implied that the team needed to improve their play in the final third in order to compete effectively against Sundowns. The lack of creativity and goal scoring in the opponents' half is something that worries me, according to Ncikazi.

His remarks draw even more focus to the attacking players chosen for this match.

If the Arrows want to get rid of Sundowns, they can't afford to concentrate only on defence. Particularly when facing teams that can maintain possession for extended periods of time, they must make the most of their attacking possibilities.

At the same time, Sundowns will be aiming to advance to the next round by utilising their expertise and proficiency.

Arrows would consider a semi-final appearance a major accomplishment and a chance to keep chasing the Carling Knockout trophy a goal accomplished.

The players now have the onus of delivering on the pitch now that Ncikazi has made his selection.

This match gives Golden Arrows a chance to prove they can overcome their offensive woes and beat a top team in the nation, with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line.
