A disappointed Kaizer Chiefs supporter has called for head coach Fernando Da Cruz to be dismissed following the club’s 2-1 loss to Orlando Pirates in Saturday’s Soweto Derby.
The frustrated fan questioned Da Cruz’s tactical decisions, particularly his substitutions and ability to manage the match as Chiefs struggled against their fierce rivals. According to the supporter, the coach failed to react quickly enough when the team needed changes.
In a social media post, the fan compared the approaches of the two technical teams, highlighting how Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou made four substitutions while Da Cruz appeared reluctant to introduce fresh players.
The supporter also expressed dissatisfaction with the decision to substitute Vilakazi while Mako remained on the field. Questions were also raised about the defensive selections involving Rushwin Dortley and Miguel.
The criticism became more intense when the fan labelled Da Cruz a “plumber” and suggested that Chiefs should consider replacing him with Manqoba Mkhize. The supporter believes Mkhize could have delivered a better outcome in the derby.
The fan further argued that the coaching staff should have identified signs of fatigue among their players and introduced fresh legs much earlier in the match.
The outburst reflects growing frustration among some Amakhosi supporters following another disappointing result against their Soweto rivals.
However, there has been no official indication that Kaizer Chiefs management is considering dismissing Da Cruz.
The coach will now be under increased pressure to improve the team's performances and results as the club prepares for its upcoming fixtures.
