Kaizer Chiefs' reported signing of South African international Elias Mokwana could bring an important attacking boost to Naturena, but concerns have emerged over the winger's disciplinary record ahead of his expected arrival at the club.
Mokwana has reportedly completed a move to the Soweto giants, with an official announcement expected from the club. However, according to a report by The South African, his history of yellow cards and frequent fouls could become an issue that head coach Fernando Da Cruz will need to manage carefully.
The former Sekhukhune United attacker has gained valuable international experience through spells in Tunisia and Saudi Arabia. His most recent campaign was with Al Hazem in the 2025/26 Saudi Pro League, where he featured on loan from Espérance.
During his 24 league appearances, Mokwana collected six yellow cards and committed 32 fouls. His disciplinary statistics suggest that he often adopts an aggressive approach when competing for possession and challenging opposition players.
His previous record in South Africa also highlights this concern. During his time at Sekhukhune United, the winger accumulated nine yellow cards in 51 appearances across the recorded competitions.
Although these numbers do not necessarily indicate a serious disciplinary problem, they provide an indication of the area where improvements might be required.
For Kaizer Chiefs, Mokwana's arrival could provide another attacking option as the club continues its efforts to strengthen the squad and improve its performances in the Betway Premiership.
His speed, direct attacking approach and experience could make him an important addition to Da Cruz's plans. However, avoiding unnecessary bookings will be equally important, particularly during crucial matches when player availability can influence results.
If the reported transfer is confirmed, Chiefs will hope Mokwana can combine his attacking qualities with greater discipline and consistency as he prepares for another chapter in South African football.
