Mamelodi Sundowns returned to winning form on Tuesday night with a narrow 1-0 victory over Marumo Gallants at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, securing their place in the Carling Knockout quarter-finals.

The win came at an important time for the Brazilians, who were looking to recover from their disappointing CAF Champions League exit against Angolan side Wiliete SC last weekend. Miguel Cardoso's team responded by delivering a determined performance to keep their domestic cup campaign on track.

Siyanda Ndlovu scored the decisive goal in the 20th minute, giving Sundowns the advantage they needed to progress to the next round.
