Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane has explained what caught his attention about Mamelodi Sundowns youngster Siyanda Ndlovu, following the 22-year-old's first senior national team call-up.

Ndlovu, popularly known as "Skwishi", has earned a place in the final Bafana Bafana squad for the back-to-back 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Kenya after an impressive run of performances at club level.

Interestingly, the winger was not included in the preliminary squad, but his recent form made it difficult for Mosimane to overlook him.

The coach highlighted Ndlovu's performances over his last four matches, during which he reportedly collected two Man of the Match awards while contributing goals and assists.

Mosimane also compared the youngster to Thapelo Maseko, explaining that he particularly appreciates direct, attacking wingers who are willing to take on defenders, penetrate the opposition's defence and deliver dangerous balls into the penalty area.

I like those wingers, Mosimane explained, emphasising that he prefers players who make decisive attacking movements rather than repeatedly turning back without creating opportunities.

For Mosimane, however, providing assists is not enough. He expects attacking players to contribute goals as well.

The coach also made it clear that Ndlovu's national team selection does not guarantee him a starting position.

He wants to assess whether the youngster can reproduce his club performances at international level and adapt to the demands of the national team.

Mosimane further explained that introducing new players is necessary to build a bigger pool of options, particularly with Thapelo Maseko currently injured and limited opportunities available for friendly matches before the AFCON finals.

He believes the national team must use available FIFA international windows to evaluate promising players who are performing well at club level.

Ndlovu's call-up is therefore an opportunity to prove that he belongs among South Africa's top football talents.

The message from Mosimane is straightforward: score goals, provide assists, attack defenders and demonstrate that you can deliver at international level.
