Arsenal could be without Bukayo Saka for up to eight weeks after the winger suffered a quad injury during Wednesday's UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern Munich, according to a report by Football London on Friday, 23 October 2026.
The 25-year-old was forced off during the first half at the Allianz Arena after appearing to pull a muscle in his left leg while attempting a pass.
He received treatment on the pitch before being helped to his feet by medical staff and leaving the game.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that further medical examinations were needed to determine the extent of the injury, with the initial assessment complicated by swelling around the affected area.
"He’s got another MRI this afternoon because he had quite a lot of fluid in the area so it was difficult to understand the extent of the injury, but we’ll know more probably tomorrow," Arteta said.
The Spaniard also acknowledged the concern surrounding Saka's condition, explaining that the winger was struggling to walk without pain.
"They are not good signs. So again, let’s be a little bit patient so we can give a definitive assessment and then let you know," Arteta added.
According to the report, initial fears at Arsenal suggest Saka could miss between six and eight weeks, potentially ruling him out of nine matches across domestic and European competitions.
Saka is expected to miss Saturday's Premier League meeting with Everton at the Emirates Stadium, while Arsenal's Carabao Cup fourth-round trip to Fleetwood Town on 27 October could also come too soon for him.
The winger could subsequently be unavailable for difficult fixtures against Liverpool at Anfield on 1 November, Slavia Praha away on 4 November and Hull City on 7 November.
Arsenal may also have to cope without their influential attacker against Newcastle United on 21 November, Borussia Dortmund on 24 November, Manchester City on 29 November and Brentford on 2 December.
If his recovery extends towards eight weeks, Saka could additionally miss the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on 6 December and the Champions League encounter with Real Madrid three days later. Bournemouth's visit on 13 December could also be affected.
Noni Madueke and teenage prospect Max Dowman could have opportunities to feature on the right flank during Saka's absence, although replacing his attacking contribution will be a significant challenge.
