Nigerian international Alex Iwobi has named former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla as the greatest footballer he has played alongside, placing the Spanish playmaker ahead of several high-profile stars he encountered during his professional career.
According to a report by Football London on Friday, October 23, 2026, Iwobi made the revelation ahead of this weekend’s Baller League event. The Fulham midfielder previously played alongside renowned talents, including Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott, during his time at Arsenal.
Iwobi made nearly 150 appearances for the north London club before moving to Everton and subsequently joining Fulham. Despite sharing the pitch and dressing room with several established names, he singled out Cazorla for his exceptional technical ability, creativity and intelligence.
Cazorla joined Arsenal for approximately £15 million and quickly became an influential figure under former manager Arsene Wenger. His close control, precise passing and ability to operate comfortably with both feet made him a favourite among supporters and teammates.
Although injuries disrupted parts of his Arsenal career, the Spaniard's performances left a lasting impression on those who played alongside him.
Former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott recently praised Cazorla while discussing Manchester City midfielder Rayan Cherki and his remarkable two-footed ability.
“I’m gonna completely separate all these charges that Man City have,” Walcott said. “Rayan Cherki, after Santi Cazorla, has the — he’s two-footed, right? It’s amazing. I don’t even know which is his best foot.”
Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere also identified Cazorla as an exceptional talent, particularly during training sessions.
“The best ever I think for training was Santi Cazorla,” Wilshere said.
Wilshere admired the Spaniard's technique, intelligent movement and ability to combine effortlessly in tight spaces.
Iwobi's choice adds to the growing appreciation of Cazorla's influence at Arsenal. While injuries prevented him from enjoying a longer spell at his peak in England, his remarkable skill and creativity continue to earn admiration from former teammates and supporters.
