NFO 3-1 MCI: Players Responsible for Man City Disappointing Defeat

According to a report by Flashscore on Saturday, November 7, 2026, Manchester City's 3-1 loss to Nottingham Forest exposed problems across the visitors' defence and attack, with Marc Guehi, Jeremy Doku, Enzo Fernandez and Erling Haaland among those who struggled to influence the match.

Forest established control before the break, scoring twice through Cunha and Liam Delap. Cunha capitalised on a costly mistake in the sixth minute, while Delap produced an individual effort in the 18th minute to extend the home side's advantage. City had chances to respond, but their finishing and delivery let them down.

Guehi was part of a defensive line that could not contain Forest's early pressure. His first-half display ended at the interval, when he was substituted for Matheus Nunes. The change came after City had already conceded twice and struggled to limit the hosts' threat.

Doku offered little return in the final third. He saw an attempt inside the area blocked in the eighth minute and failed to pick out a teammate with a ball into the box six minutes later. A promising low pass in the 30th minute also went to waste when he could not control it, allowing Forest to clear.

Fernandez missed an opportunity to reduce the deficit in the 24th minute. Guehi supplied a cross, but the midfielder's header sailed just over. His corners in the ninth and 42nd minutes were also dealt with by Forest, leaving City without a breakthrough before half-time.

Haaland likewise found it difficult to make his presence felt. The striker received a useful pass in the penalty area in the 41st minute, but a Forest defender blocked his attempt. City therefore went into the interval two goals behind.

Rayan Cherki gave the visitors renewed hope shortly after the restart, scoring in the 52nd minute. That response did not last: Delap struck again in the 73rd minute to complete his brace and restore Forest's two-goal cushion. City could not build on that brief response.

The result left City beaten 3-1, with the four players' missed opportunities and defensive difficulties forming a major part of their disappointing afternoon.
