ARS 1-0 HUL: Odegaard Scores Winner as Arsenal Beat Hull to Extend Premier League Lead

According to a report by the Evening Standard on Saturday, November 7, 2026, Arsenal defeated Hull City 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium, with Martin Odegaard netting the only goal to ensure the Gunners retained their place at the top of the Premier League standings.

Arsenal enjoyed considerable control of the match under Mikel Arteta but struggled to make their possession count against a resilient Hull City team that defended with determination.

The hosts fashioned several opportunities to score but lacked the necessary composure and accuracy in the final third. Their inability to capitalise on those chances gave Hull hope of securing a positive result.

One of the major talking points came when Kai Havertz appeared to be fouled by Nobel Mendy inside the penalty area after the Hull defender seemingly pulled his shirt.

Arsenal players immediately appealed for a penalty, but their protests proved unsuccessful after the incident was checked by VAR.

Nevertheless, Arteta's players remained determined to find a winning goal, and their persistence eventually paid off in the 72nd minute.

The breakthrough came when Odegaard reacted sharply to a loose ball after Hull goalkeeper failed to hold Noni Madueke's attempt. The Arsenal captain showed good awareness to collect the rebound and score from close range.

The Norwegian's strike proved decisive, ending Hull's impressive defensive resistance and giving Arsenal a valuable lead to defend.

Although the visitors had frustrated the Gunners for much of the game with their disciplined defensive display, they could not prevent the home side from securing all three points.

The narrow victory provides another major boost for Arsenal's Premier League title ambitions as Arteta's team continues to maintain its impressive position in the standings.

Arsenal finished the match six points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, extending their advantage at the top of the table as they head into the international break.
