According to a report by Sky Sports on November 7, 2026, Arsenal have strengthened their position at the top of the Premier League table following a 1-0 victory over Hull City, while Manchester City suffered a damaging 3-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest.
The results have increased Arsenal’s advantage over their closest rivals and added another twist to the Premier League title race, with Mikel Arteta’s team taking full advantage of City’s latest setback.
Arsenal hosted Hull City at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, knowing that a victory would help them maintain their position at the top of the standings. The Gunners faced a determined Hull side that made life difficult for the home team, particularly with their defensive approach.
However, Arsenal eventually found the breakthrough in the 72nd minute when Martin Ødegaard scored the only goal of the match. His effort proved decisive as the hosts managed to protect their advantage until the final whistle.
The victory took Arsenal to 27 points from their opening 10 league matches, giving them a six-point lead over Manchester City, who remain second with 21 points.
Meanwhile, Manchester City experienced another disappointing afternoon after losing 3-1 to Nottingham Forest away from home. Pep Guardiola’s side struggled to contain the hosts, who delivered an impressive performance to claim all three points.
Jair Cunha and Liam Delap scored to put Nottingham Forest in control of the encounter. Manchester City briefly found a way back into the contest through Rayan Cherki, raising hopes of a possible comeback.
However, those hopes were ended when Delap scored his second goal of the match to complete his brace and secure Forest’s 3-1 victory.
The defeat represents City’s third consecutive loss in the Premier League, leaving Guardiola with the challenge of finding a solution to his team’s poor run of results.
Elsewhere, Leeds United secured a 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, with Noah Okafor scoring the winning goal. The result moved Leeds above Tottenham into eighth position.
Fulham and Newcastle United also shared the points after playing out a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage.
With Arsenal extending their lead to six points, Manchester City now face increasing pressure to return to winning ways. However, Sunday’s fixtures involving Chelsea, Liverpool, Brighton and Manchester United could bring further changes to the league table before the weekend comes to an end.
