Arsenal Receive Double Injury Boost Ahead of Liverpool Clash

According to a report by Football London on Tuesday October 27, 2026, Arsenal have received encouraging injury news ahead of Sunday's Premier League showdown against Liverpool, with Riccardo Calafiori and Christos Tzolis reportedly nearing returns as Mikel Arteta prepares his squad carefully.

The Gunners defeated Everton 2-0, maintaining their position alongside Manchester City near the Premier League summit. However, injuries remain a concern as Arsenal approach several challenging fixtures during their demanding campaign.

Bukayo Saka remains unavailable after suffering a quadriceps injury during Arsenal's encounter against Bayern Munich. Arteta confirmed the winger could miss several weeks, with further medical examinations required before determining his recovery timeline.

The Arsenal manager explained that significant fluid around the affected area made assessing the injury difficult. Consequently, Saka's return could arrive in December, potentially against Manchester United on December 20.

Calafiori also raised concerns after missing Arsenal's starting lineup against Everton. The Italian defender had started seven consecutive Premier League matches before experiencing a minor issue that forced Arteta to manage his involvement.

Arteta suggested the problem appeared relatively minor, although its precise nature remained uncertain. Arsenal remain hopeful that Calafiori will recover sufficiently to feature against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Meanwhile, William Saliba continues progressing towards his comeback after suffering a back injury that has prevented him from playing this season. The French defender has resumed individual training sessions outdoors.

Arteta revealed another MRI scan would assess Saliba's recovery progress. Although the initial signs have been positive, December remains a realistic target for the centre-back's return to competitive action.

Tzolis has also been recovering from a hamstring injury sustained while representing Greece internationally. His expected absence was approximately three weeks, meaning a comeback could now be approaching if his rehabilitation continues successfully.

Piero Hincapie has already returned to Arsenal's matchday squad following an ankle problem, offering Arteta additional defensive cover as fixtures become increasingly demanding.

With Calafiori and Tzolis potentially available against Liverpool, Arsenal could receive a timely double boost. However, Saka's absence remains significant as Arteta balances squad fitness, defensive stability and the club's pursuit of Premier League glory.
