According to a report by TeamTalk on Saturday, October 24, 2026, Eberechi Eze has reportedly been relegated to a squad-player role at Arsenal. However, the England international remains committed to the club despite concerns about his performances and limited opportunities under manager Mikel Arteta.
Eze joined Arsenal after the Gunners defeated Tottenham Hotspur in the race for his signature. He made an impressive start to life at the Emirates Stadium, scoring an early hat-trick against their north London rivals. However, his influence on the team has gradually diminished since then.
Sources at Arsenal previously informed TEAMtalk insider Graeme Bailey that Martin Odegaard's excellent return to form had significantly reduced Eze's chances of establishing himself as the club's first-choice attacking midfielder.
Attacking midfield was reportedly the position Arsenal intended Eze to occupy when they signed him. However, Odegaard's impressive performances have made it increasingly difficult for the 28-year-old to secure a regular starting role.
Eze could also be deployed on the left wing, but Arsenal reportedly regard Christos Tzolis as a better option in that position. This has further complicated his efforts to earn more playing time under Arteta.
Furthermore, Arsenal's attempts to sign prominent left-wingers, including Morgan Rogers and Vinicius Junior, during the summer transfer window reportedly indicated that Eze was not considered their preferred option for the position.
Despite his reduced involvement, journalist Pete O'Rourke reports that Eze has no intention of leaving Arsenal and remains determined to establish himself at the Emirates Stadium.
Football Insider has also reported that the England international is happy at the club and wants to stay despite ongoing concerns about his performances. His determination to remain could give him an opportunity to fight his way back into Arteta's plans.
Eze started just one of Arsenal's first seven Premier League matches this season and was substituted at half-time during that appearance against Nottingham Forest.
Nevertheless, the attacking midfielder has demonstrated encouraging form in European competition, potentially giving Arteta a reason to reconsider his role as the season progresses.
He found the net against Bayern Munich in midweek after coming on for the injured Bukayo Saka during the first half, making a valuable contribution against the German giants.
According to O'Rourke, Eze believes he has much more to contribute to Arsenal and is not overly concerned about his current lack of playing time. His display against Bayern could strengthen his case for a more prominent role in the team.
Saka is expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks because of a quadriceps injury. Although Noni Madueke is likely to take his place on the right wing, Eze could benefit from Arteta's need to rotate his limited attacking options during the England international's absence.
