Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana star Reneilwe “Yeye” Letsholonyane is making his mark as a coach in Botswana.
This past weekend, his Mochudi Centre Chiefs side handed Prisons XI Gaborone a proper hiding, winning 3-1 in the Botswana Premier League.
It was a dominant performance from start to finish. The Chiefs controlled the game, created chance after chance, and made sure the three points stayed with them. The final score showed just how much better they were on the day.
This result marks Letsholonyane’s fourth win of the season. He has settled quickly into the job and is already building a strong side that plays with confidence and purpose. The players look organised and hungry under his leadership.
For many South African fans, it is good to see one of their own doing well across the border. Yeye was a midfield warrior during his playing days, and that same fighting spirit is clearly rubbing off on his team.
Centre Chiefs now sit in a solid position as the season continues. Wins like this build belief in the dressing room and put pressure on the teams around them.
Prisons XI will have to go back to the drawing board after this defeat. They simply could not match the energy and quality shown by Letsholonyane’s men.
South African football lovers will be keeping an eye on Yeye’s progress. If he keeps collecting wins like this, bigger opportunities may come knocking in the future.
For now, though, the focus stays on Botswana. Four wins already, and the season is still young. The man they call Yeye is off to a flying start.
