Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Thembinkosi Lorch could be preparing for another change in his football career as his future at Libyan club Al-Ittihad Tripoli remains uncertain.
The 33-year-old South African international is reportedly moving closer to a mutual separation with the North African club after struggling to secure a regular place in the team.
According to the latest reports from Libya, Lorch has been absent from Al-Ittihad Tripoli's recent league matchday squads under head coach Faouzi Benzarti. His continued absence has increased speculation about his future, with a possible departure now becoming a serious possibility.
Lorch joined the Libyan side with expectations of making an important contribution, but his situation appears to have changed. If an agreement is reached between the player and the club, he could become available as a free agent ahead of the next transfer window.
Meanwhile, a potential move to Morocco has also reportedly fallen through. Moroccan champions MAS Fès were previously linked with the attacker, but negotiations are understood to have collapsed after the parties failed to reach an agreement over personal terms.
Despite that setback, Lorch is reportedly attracting interest from other clubs in North Africa. Teams from Egypt and Algeria have been mentioned as possible destinations, although no official agreement has been announced.
His next move will be particularly interesting because he still has the experience and attacking qualities that could attract clubs looking to strengthen their forward departments.
In South Africa, his situation could also reopen discussions about a possible return to the Betway Premiership. Kaizer Chiefs have previously been linked with the former Bafana Bafana international, although there is currently no confirmed agreement between the two parties.
A return to Orlando Pirates could also generate excitement among supporters, considering the important role he played during his previous spell at the club. Lorch became a popular figure at Pirates because of his creativity, technical ability and memorable performances in important matches.
However, whether he returns to South Africa or continues his career elsewhere remains unclear.
For now, his immediate priority will be finding a suitable solution to his situation at Al-Ittihad Tripoli. A mutual separation could give him the freedom to consider other opportunities and decide where he wants to continue his career.
With interest reportedly coming from different countries, the coming weeks could be important in determining the next chapter of Lorch's football journey.
