Chiefs Reportedly Make Private Move For New Coach As Major Changes Loom

Kaizer Chiefs could be heading towards major changes at Naturena, with reports indicating that the club's management is considering bringing experienced South African tactician Manqoba Mngqithi into its technical team.

According to a report by Sports With Daily News on Thursday, November 5, 2026, discussions about Mngqithi's potential involvement at Amakhosi have reportedly taken place behind closed doors. Kaizer Motaung Jr. is said to have held a private meeting with the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach as the club considers possible changes to its technical structure.

The reported development has also raised questions about the future of current head coach Fernando Da Cruz, whose position could become uncertain if the Chiefs hierarchy decides to take a different direction.

Da Cruz has been leading the Soweto giants, but concerns have reportedly emerged over the team's inconsistent performances and results. Although the club has not made any official announcement regarding his future, the reported interest in Mngqithi has fuelled speculation among supporters about the possibility of a coaching shake-up.

Mngqithi brings considerable experience to the table, having previously worked with Mamelodi Sundowns and played an important role in several successful campaigns. His understanding of South African football and extensive Premier Soccer League experience could make him an attractive candidate if Chiefs decide to strengthen their technical department.

Interestingly, the reported discussions are not only centred on the coaching structure, as Mngqithi could also have an influence on the club's recruitment plans.

Bafana Bafana international Elias Mokwana is among the players mentioned in connection with the reported developments. Mngqithi was reportedly interested in bringing the winger to Naturena, with suggestions that he played a role in the move.

Mokwana has already completed his arrival at Kaizer Chiefs and was officially unveiled with the famous number 14 jersey. His signing is expected to add more quality and attacking options to the Amakhosi squad.

Another player whose name has emerged in connection with the club is Thembinkosi Lorch. The experienced attacker has reportedly been linked with a possible switch to Naturena, with his creativity, technical qualities and experience considered valuable attributes that could improve Chiefs' attacking department.

However, neither Mngqithi's potential arrival at the club nor the reported interest in Lorch has been officially confirmed. The alleged meeting between Mngqithi and Kaizer Motaung Jr., as well as the reported transfer discussions, remain unverified.

For now, Chiefs supporters will be monitoring the situation closely to see whether the reported developments eventually result in changes to the club's technical team and playing squad.

Should the reported plans become a reality, Kaizer Chiefs could be preparing for a significant new chapter at Naturena, with possible changes involving both the coaching department and player recruitment.
