Sundowns Striker Explains Why Ncikazi Could Make Life Difficult for the Brazilians

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners has spoken about the challenge Golden Arrows could present in their Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final, admitting that Mandla Ncikazi is a coach who understands how to prepare his team when facing the Tshwane giants.

Sundowns are set to welcome Golden Arrows to Loftus Versfeld, with both teams looking to secure a place in the semi-finals of the competition.

The Brazilians go into the match after producing an impressive performance in the Betway Premiership, where they defeated Durban City 4-1. That result will give the defending champions confidence as they turn their attention to the cup competition.

Golden Arrows, however, will arrive looking to respond after suffering a 1-0 defeat against AmaZulu. Despite their recent loss, Rayners believes Sundowns must approach the match with the right attitude because their opponents have a coach who knows how to organise his team against them.

Speaking to the Sundowns media department, the striker described Ncikazi as a good coach. He explained that teams usually understand the importance of having a proper tactical plan when they come up against Sundowns.

Rayners said the focus for his teammates should be on doing their job, remaining confident when they have the ball and working as hard as possible to get the desired result.

For the striker, qualifying for the next round is more important than anything else. Sundowns know that a strong performance will be needed if they want to continue defending their Carling Knockout Cup title.

Rayners also highlighted one area that could make a major difference in the match. He believes Sundowns must take advantage of the scoring opportunities they create instead of allowing Golden Arrows to remain in the contest.

The forward explained that Sundowns usually create several chances when playing against Abafana Bes'thende. However, he wants the team to be more clinical and punish their opponents as early as possible.

Rayners believes scoring the opening goal could change the nature of the match. He explained that once Sundowns score first, Golden Arrows may be forced to attack more, which could create additional space for the defending champions.

His comments show that Sundowns respect Ncikazi's ability to prepare his team, but the striker remains confident that his side can get the result if they follow their plan.

With a place in the Carling Knockout Cup semi-finals at stake, Sundowns will be looking to turn their attacking opportunities into goals and avoid giving Golden Arrows the chance to frustrate them at Loftus Versfeld.
