Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bathusi Aubaas turned in a dominant performance during his team's recent victory against Golden Arrows, delivering what many observers consider one of his finest displays since joining the Chloorkop outfit. Playing in the heart of the pitch, the South African international dictated the pace of the game with remarkable composure, offering a balanced mix of tactical discipline, ball retention, and defensive stability.

Throughout the encounter, Aubaas served as the primary engine for Sundowns, demanding the ball and organizing play from deep areas. He accumulated 99 touches and completed 84 out of 89 passes, finishing the match with an impressive 94 percent passing accuracy. Beyond keeping possession simple, he frequently broke opposition lines, completing 17 passes into the final third and landing eight accurate long balls from ten attempts. His vision allowed Sundowns to quickly shift the point of attack whenever Golden Arrows attempted to close down space.

In addition to his distribution, Aubaas showcased his versatility by pushing forward and contributing to physical battles. He successfully completed all of his dribble attempts, recorded four progressive carries, and created a key scoring opportunity for his teammates. Defensively, he remained equally sharp, recovering possession three times, recording two interceptions, and winning four of his seven individual duels to protect his backline.

The performance earned him a match rating of 7.8 out of 10, highlighting his total influence on the game.Competing for regular playing time in a Sundowns squad packed with international talent is never easy, but Aubaas demonstrated that his combination of physical strength and tactical intelligence makes him a vital asset.

As Sundowns continue to compete across domestic competitions and the CAF Champions League, having midfielders who can handle pressure and control high-stakes matches will be crucial. If Aubaas can maintain this level of consistency, he is well-positioned to cement a regular starting role and become a cornerstone of the club's midfield going forward.
