Ronnie Kananelo Celebrates First Win as Marumo Gallants Defeat Siwelele

Marumo Gallants achieved their first win of the Betway Premiership season by narrowly defeating Siwelele FC 3-2 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Friday night, marking a successful debut for new coach Ronnie Kananelo.

This hard-fought victory serves as a significant morale boost for Bahlabane Ba Ntwa, who have faced challenges early in the league campaign. The three points enabled Gallants to rise from the bottom of the standings to 15th place, fostering hope for an improvement in their performance.

The match was filled with excitement, featuring five goals and an intense back-and-forth as both teams displayed their attacking prowess until the end.

Gallants started strong, taking the lead in the seventh minute when Samkele Sihlali scored, giving the home team the confidence to apply pressure on their opponents.

Siwelele swiftly responded, equalizing in the 26th minute with a goal from Raymond Makhuvele, showing their determination to compete fiercely.

However, Gallants quickly regained the lead when Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo scored in the 32nd minute, allowing them to go into halftime with an advantage after a thrilling first half.

Sihlali then scored again shortly after the second half began, netting his second in the 49th minute and strengthening Gallants' position for their first league win of the season.

His second goal was crucial, helping the hosts take more control of the game and resist Siwelele's attempts to come back.

Despite this, Siwelele continued to push, narrowing the gap in the 55th minute with a goal from Maliele Pule, which intensified the game and kept Gallants on their toes as Siwelele sought another equalizer.

In spite of the mounting pressure, Kananelo's squad held on to their lead and secured all three points at the final whistle.

For the new coach, this victory is a promising start and a chance to build morale within the team. While one win won't resolve all issues, it provides a strong foundation for future consistency.

Moving away from the bottom and into 15th place is another encouraging step for a team eager to avoid relegation.

Gallants will aim to carry this momentum into future matches, understanding that maintaining their fighting spirit and improving consistency will be vital.

Conversely, Siwelele will be disappointed after scoring twice but still losing, and they must quickly regroup to address the defensive lapses exposed during the match.

Ultimately, Friday night’s triumph offers Kananelo a vital early success and instills a renewed sense of belief in Marumo Gallants as they strive to improve their league standing.
