Wandile Duba Makes Kaizer Chiefs History With Hat-Trick Against TS Galaxy
Kaizer Chiefs striker Wandile Duba has written his name into the club’s history books after producing a remarkable hat-trick in Amakhosi’s 3-0 victory over TS Galaxy in the Carling Knockout Cup last-16 encounter.
The 22-year-old forward delivered an outstanding performance that helped Chiefs secure their place in the quarter-finals while establishing himself among the club’s celebrated hat-trick scorers. His achievement represents a significant milestone in what has been an encouraging 2026/27 campaign.
According to the club’s historical records, Duba has become the 24th player to score a hat-trick for Chiefs since the 1996/97 season. He is also the 19th Amakhosi player to accomplish the feat across all competitions during the Premier Soccer League era.
Duba’s achievement is particularly significant because he is the first Chiefs player to score a hat-trick in the Carling Knockout Cup. The academy graduate has also ended the club’s wait for another hat-trick scorer since Caleb-Bonfils Bimenyimana scored three penalties in a 3-1 league victory over Stellenbosch FC.
The young striker’s latest contribution has further strengthened his position as Chiefs’ leading goalscorer this season. He has now registered six goals in seven appearances across all competitions, highlighting his growing importance to the team.
His accomplishment also recalls the achievements of previous Amakhosi greats. In 1987, Marks Maponyane scored a hat-trick against Durban City in a knockout cup match, adding historical significance to Duba’s performance.
However, the club’s most prolific hat-trick scorer remains the late Patrick ‘Ace’ Ntsoelengoe, who is credited with 14 hat-tricks across all competitions.
Chiefs will now prepare for their Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final against Siwelele FC, scheduled for the weekend of November 7 and 8.
For Duba, the immediate challenge will be maintaining his impressive scoring form and helping Amakhosi continue their pursuit of silverware this season.
