Bathusi Aubaas delivered an impressive all-round performance as Mamelodi Sundowns secured a positive result against Golden Arrows, producing statistics that could make it one of his finest displays since joining the Tshwane giants.

The Sundowns midfielder was outstanding in the middle of the park, demonstrating composure, intelligence and excellent ball control throughout the encounter against Abafana Bes'thende. His contribution was particularly important in helping the Brazilians dominate possession, dictate the tempo and maintain control in midfield.

Aubaas was heavily involved in Sundowns' build-up play, recording an impressive 99 touches and completing 84 of his 89 attempted passes, translating into a remarkable 94 per cent passing accuracy. His ability to distribute the ball accurately allowed his teammates to maintain possession and move forward with confidence.

The midfielder also showed his attacking qualities by completing 17 of 19 passes into the final third. Additionally, he registered eight accurate long passes from 10 attempts, highlighting his ability to switch play and find teammates in advanced positions.

His contribution was not limited to passing, as Aubaas successfully completed both of his attempted dribbles and recorded four progressive carries. In the attacking third, he completed 20 of 24 passes and created one key chance for his teammates.

Defensively, the 29-year-old also demonstrated his importance, recording three recoveries and two interceptions while winning four of his seven ground and aerial duels.

His outstanding contribution earned him a 7.8 rating out of 10, recognising his influence across different areas of the pitch.

Aubaas has faced competition for regular playing time at Sundowns, given the quality and depth available in the squad. However, performances of this nature could strengthen his chances of securing a more prominent role.

With his physical presence, technical ability and composure, Aubaas appears determined to make his mark as Sundowns pursue domestic and continental silverware.
