5-Goal Drama: Vincent Pule’s Strike Not Enough as Marumo Gallants Stun Siwelele 3-2

Gallants End Frustrating Wait! Marumo Secure First Betway Premiership Victory After Nine Attempts

Marumo Gallants have finally given their supporters something to celebrate after recording their first victory of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season, defeating Siwelele FC 3-2 in an entertaining five-goal encounter on Friday night.

The result at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium brought an end to Gallants' frustrating start to the campaign, with the Limpopo-based outfit having waited until their ninth league match to collect their first three points of the season.

With pressure mounting following a difficult run of results, the victory could prove an important turning point for a team desperate to move away from the relegation zone.

Gallants made an encouraging start to the encounter and were rewarded early when Samkele Sihlali found the back of the net in the eighth minute to give the home side a 1-0 advantage.

However, Siwelele responded positively and managed to restore parity through Raymond Makhuvele in the 27th minute, ensuring that the visitors remained firmly in contention.

The hosts refused to lose momentum and regained their lead through Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo, who scored in the 33rd minute to make it 2-1.

Gallants went into the halftime break with a narrow advantage, knowing that another strong performance after the restart would be required to secure maximum points.

Sihlali then delivered another important contribution shortly after the interval, completing his brace in the 50th minute to extend Gallants' advantage to 3-1.

The forward's second goal placed the hosts in a commanding position and brought them closer to a long-awaited league victory.

Nevertheless, Siwelele were not prepared to surrender without a fight. Experienced attacker Vincent Pule pulled one back in the 56th minute, reducing the deficit to 3-2 and setting up a tense closing period.

Gallants, however, managed to protect their advantage and eventually secured all three points.

The victory represents more than just three points for Gallants. After enduring eight unsuccessful attempts to register a league win, the result provides renewed confidence and an opportunity to rebuild momentum.

For Siwelele, the defeat will be disappointing, particularly after showing determination to fight their way back into the contest.

Gallants will now hope to build on this important result as they continue their fight to improve their position in the 2026/27 Betway Premiership standings.

Their first victory has finally arrived, but consistency will be the real test from here.
