Simo Dladla Makes It Two Wins in a Row as Young Africans Hammer Kagera Sugar 4-0
South African tactician Simo Dladla is enjoying a dream beginning as interim head coach of Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC after guiding the club to a second consecutive victory with a convincing 4-0 demolition of Kagera Sugar FC on Sunday.
The emphatic result in the Tanzanian Premier League represents another positive step for Dladla, who was entrusted with leading the club following the departure of fellow South African coach Manqoba Mngqithi.
Dladla, who previously served as part of Mngqithi's technical team, has wasted little time making an impression, collecting maximum points from his opening two matches in charge.
His first victory came against Mashujaa FC, where Young Africans recovered from an early setback to secure a 2-1 comeback win. The latest performance, however, demonstrated a more ruthless attacking approach.
Young Africans controlled proceedings against Kagera Sugar, scoring twice in the first half before adding two more goals towards the end of the encounter.
Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile opened the scoring in the 27th minute, continuing his impressive form with his second consecutive goal and taking his league tally to six goals.
Mohamed Hussein doubled the advantage six minutes later, ensuring that the hosts went into the half-time break with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Cheikh Toure then took centre stage in the closing stages, finding the back of the net in the 88th minute before completing his brace shortly afterwards to seal the comprehensive victory.
The result is particularly important for Young Africans as they continue their pursuit of domestic honours.
According to the latest league standings reported by iDiski Times, the victory moved Yanga within two points of arch-rivals and league leaders Simba SC, who have collected 18 points, although Young Africans have played one additional match.
Dladla's immediate challenge will be to maintain this momentum and convince the club's hierarchy that he deserves serious consideration for the permanent coaching position.
The South African tactician has already spoken about his determination to restore supporters' confidence, improve the team's performances and deliver the goals and entertaining football expected at the club.
With two victories from two matches, Dladla has certainly made a promising statement.
For South African football, his progress abroad is another encouraging story, particularly as he attempts to establish himself at one of East Africa's biggest football institutions.
Two matches, two wins and a 4-0 statement victory. Simo Dladla is certainly giving Young Africans supporters reasons to believe again.
