Ouaddou, Zwane Or Cardoso? Three PSL Coaches Make Strong Case For October Award

Johannesburg – The race for the Betway Premiership Coach of the Month award for October could produce an interesting debate, with Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, AmaZulu mentor Arthur Zwane and Mamelodi Sundowns tactician Miguel Cardoso emerging as three strong contenders.

All three coaches recorded two victories during the month, putting them in the conversation for one of the league's monthly individual honours.

Although their teams have different ambitions and face different challenges, each coach has reasons to believe that his performances deserve recognition.

The Moroccan-French coach has been working to maintain Pirates' competitiveness while developing a team capable of challenging for domestic and continental honours.

One of his biggest moments in October came during the Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs on 31 October.

Pirates secured a memorable 2-1 victory at FNB Stadium after recovering from a difficult first half. Yanela Mbuthuma opened the scoring before Pule Mmodi equalised for Amakhosi, while Tshepang Moremi scored the decisive goal.

The victory demonstrated the team's ability to respond under pressure and gave Ouaddou another important result against his biggest rivals.

His tactical adjustments at half-time also attracted attention, particularly after he admitted that his initial approach had not worked as planned.

The former Kaizer Chiefs coach has been tasked with building a competitive team in Durban, and his side has shown encouraging progress.

AmaZulu's recent performances have been particularly impressive, with the club recording its fifth consecutive Betway Premiership victory on 1 November.

That winning momentum reflects the confidence and consistency developing within the squad.

Zwane's ability to organise the team and get important performances from his players could make him a serious contender.

Miguel Cardoso is another coach who deserves consideration.

The Portuguese tactician continues to manage the expectations that come with leading Mamelodi Sundowns, a club that demands success in every competition.

Sundowns produced an impressive performance on 1 November, defeating Durban City 4-1 to return to the top of the Betway Premiership standings.

Cardoso's challenge has been maintaining high standards while ensuring that his team remains competitive despite the demands of a busy football calendar.

His experience and ability to keep Sundowns fighting for trophies make him an important name in the discussion.

With two victories each, the three coaches have similar records according to the figures provided.

However, the final decision could depend on other considerations, including the quality of opposition, overall performances, tactical decisions and the impact each coach made during October.
