According to Bianchi, Khoza reached out to him after Wiliete's success in advancing to the subsequent stage of the competition following the competition. Following a 1-1 draw in the second leg of the match at Loftus Versfeld, the Angolan team eliminated Sundowns, advancing on the basis of goals scored away from home and putting an end to the domestic competition for the South African club.
A historic accomplishment for Wiliete, who made it to the group stage of the CAF Champions League for the very first time, the result was also a historic achievement. Despite facing a difficult challenge against one of the most experienced teams on the African continent, the Angolan club was able to eliminate the team that was currently holding the title of African champion.
In light of the fact that the first match, which took place in Lubango, ended in a scoreless draw, Sundowns entered the second leg with the intention of securing qualification. At Loftus Versfeld, they got off to a strong start, with Tashreeq Matthews scoring the first goal in the eleventh minute to give the home team an early advantage.
Wiliete, on the other hand, maintained his defensive organization and continued to be a source of frustration for the Brazilians. After a defensive mistake made by Cassius Mailula, Cristóvão "Mabululu" Paciência scored an equalizer in the 48th minute, putting the Angolan team in a strong position to advance.
Sundowns were able to create several opportunities and record 18 shots, while Wiliete only managed to record six shots. However, they were unable to score the second goal that they required. Throughout the entire match, Bianchi lauded his players for their ability to maintain their composure and adhere to the game plan.
The coach of Wiliete acknowledged that Sundowns were anticipated to dominate possession due to the quality and experience of their players. In spite of this, he expressed his satisfaction with the manner in which his players coped with the pressure and defended in a low block at Loftus Versfeld.
Although Bianchi acknowledged that Sundowns had created sufficient opportunities to win the match, he stated that his team made the most of the opportunities that were presented to them. Obtaining qualification for the group stage and accomplishing the goal that was established at the beginning of the season were the two outcomes that Wiliete considered to be the most significant.
Sundowns' hopes of defending their continental title before the group stage were dashed as a result of the result, which also marked the first time in eleven seasons that they had failed to advance to that stage of the competition.
In a previous statement, Bianchi had made it abundantly clear that the removal of Sundowns was essential for Wiliete to accomplish its goal. In the end, his players were able to deliver the result, earning praise for their defensive performance and their dogged determination.
As a result of an alleged altercation that took place between Bianchi and Sundowns assistant coach Steve Komphela following the first match in Angola, the buildup to the second leg had also garnered a lot of attention. After the incident, Bianchi was reportedly transported out of the stadium in an ambulance, according to the reports.
On the other hand, Wiliete's qualification has brought the attention back to football, and the club is currently celebrating a significant milestone in its extensive history. The congratulatory call that Khoza reportedly made to Bianchi added yet another moment of significance to the celebrations that took place after the Angolan team's remarkable victory.
