Mbekezeli "TLB" Mbokazi, a defender for Bafana Bafana, will miss Chicago Fire's next Major League Soccer match against Orlando City due to a one-match suspension and a fine of about R4,000 ($250) for receiving his fifth yellow card of the 2026 regular season.
In a closely contested 3-2 win over Atlanta United on 24 October, he received his fifth caution in the 81st minute, taking him over the league's disciplinary threshold. If you get five bookings in a row, you'll be immediately banned from the league and fined. Dje D'Avilla, another member of his club, will likewise miss the Orlando City encounter due to the same punishments.
The timing couldn't be worse. Since bouncing back from a thigh injury, Mbokazi has become an integral part of the defence, starting six games in a row and registering 40 clearances and 4 blocks. Orlando City, where Antoine Griezmann plays for France, will be a tough opponent to face without him.
Fortunately, the 2026 Major League Soccer Cup Playoffs will begin on November 18th, and Chicago Fire have already guarantyd their spot in the tournament. In their next match against Colorado Rapids, Mbokazi will look to get back on track before making a run at the playoffs. He is likely to be ready for selection once again.
