Kaizer Chiefs' Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final match against Siwelele FC has been moved to a later kick-off time, with the Premier Soccer League confirming the change on Thursday.
Amakhosi were initially scheduled to face Siwelele at 15:00 on Sunday at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. However, the match has now been rescheduled to kick off at 18:00 following an adjustment to the Sunday's football programme.
The decision was made to avoid a scheduling clash with the CAF Super Cup match between Mamelodi Sundowns and USM Alger, which is also scheduled to take place on Sunday.
The PSL confirmed the change during Thursday's Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final press conferences, explaining that both matches scheduled for Sunday would now start at the same time.
In its statement, the league confirmed that the Kaizer Chiefs and Siwelele encounter had been moved from 15:00 to 18:00. The adjustment was made in consideration of Sundowns' participation in the continental competition.
The PSL also wished Sundowns well as they prepare to represent South Africa in the CAF Super Cup, while extending its best wishes to all eight clubs competing in the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-finals.
For Chiefs, the fixture remains an important opportunity to get their season back on track after suffering a 2-1 defeat against Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby.
The loss against their biggest rivals will be disappointing for Amakhosi, but they will now turn their attention to the Carling Knockout Cup, where they are hoping to progress further in the competition.
Chiefs reached the quarter-finals after producing a convincing performance against TS Galaxy in the previous round. They defeated the Rockets 3-0 to book their place in the last eight and will be looking to produce another strong performance against Siwelele.
However, their opponents will also be determined to reach the semi-finals. Siwelele booked their quarter-final place after eliminating Polokwane City in a dramatic penalty shootout. The match ended with the teams level before Siwelele secured a 4-3 victory on penalties.
Despite that achievement, Siwelele were unable to maintain their winning momentum in their next Betway Premiership assignment. They suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat against Marumo Gallants, leaving them with another challenge as they prepare to face one of the country's biggest clubs.
The change in kick-off time gives supporters a new schedule to consider when making arrangements to attend the match or follow the action.
Both teams will now have their attention firmly on Sunday's encounter, with a place in the Carling Knockout Cup semi-finals at stake.
For Chiefs, winning the competition remains an opportunity to compete for silverware, while Siwelele will be hoping to continue their cup journey by producing another important result against the Soweto giants.
The match will now take place at 18:00 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, instead of the originally scheduled 15:00 kick-off.
