Kaizer Chiefs Captain Expresses Excitement Over Rushwin Dortley's Return

Kaizer Chiefs have received a significant boost ahead of the Soweto Derby with the return of defender Rushwin Dortley. His comeback has created a buzz within the club as Amakhosi aim to enhance their performance in the Betway Premiership.

Dortley made his competitive return on October 27, 2026, starting against TS Galaxy in the Carling Knockout Cup. The Chiefs celebrated a convincing 3-0 win, with Dortley's solid defensive effort contributing to the clean sheet.

This game was particularly meaningful as it marked Dortley's first appearance for the club since March 2025. His extended absence had left a void in the defensive lineup, as he is known for his composure, defensive intelligence, and ability to initiate play from the back.

Regarding Dortley's return, the Chiefs captain conveyed confidence in his skills, underscoring that his quality had never been in doubt despite his injury struggles. "We all know what Rushwin can bring. Before the injury, he was performing at a high level," the captain stated.

These remarks highlight the trust his teammates have in Dortley and the importance of having experienced players as the season unfolds.

His return comes at a crucial juncture for Chiefs, who are gearing up for their highly awaited Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates on Saturday, October 31, at FNB Stadium. This matchup provides Amakhosi an opportunity to build on their success over TS Galaxy and showcase their growth against their fiercest rivals.

While Dortley may require time to regain full match fitness after such a prolonged absence, his presence adds another valuable defensive asset for the coaching staff.

For Chiefs fans, his return brings renewed hope. If he continues to improve, Dortley could play a key role in reinforcing the team’s defense during the challenging matches ahead.
