PUso DITHEJANE MAKES INSTANT IMPACT AS CHICAGO FIRE RETURN TO WINNING WAYS
CHICAGO, USA — 1 NOVEMBER 2026
South African youngster Puso Dithejane delivered a dream performance off the bench after scoring just three minutes into his appearance as Chicago Fire returned to winning ways with an important victory over Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer (MLS).
The former Kaizer Chiefs and TS Galaxy attacker proved to be an inspired substitute, making an immediate contribution after being introduced late in the encounter. His decisive goal provided a major boost for Chicago Fire and further highlighted the attacking quality he brings to the American club.
Dithejane needed only three minutes on the pitch to find the back of the net, demonstrating impressive composure and an excellent instinct for goal. Despite his limited playing time, the South African made his presence felt and delivered exactly the kind of impact every coach hopes to receive from a substitute.
His performance was particularly impressive when looking at the individual statistics. The attacker registered one shot, which was on target and taken from inside the penalty area, and scored from his only attempt at goal.
His non-penalty expected goals on target (xGOT) stood at 0.78, compared to an expected goals (xG) value of 0.13, highlighting the quality of his finishing.
Beyond his goal, Dithejane also demonstrated his willingness to contribute defensively and help his teammates in possession. He won his only attempted tackle, recording a 100% success rate, while completing one of his two passes and registering a successful pass into the final third.
The youngster also recorded two progressive carries, one recovery and two touches inside the opposition's penalty area. Although he managed only six touches during his brief appearance, his contribution proved decisive.
