Former Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has reflected on his departure from the Soweto giants, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve one of South Africa's biggest football institutions while suggesting that he left the club with a strong sense of fulfilment.
Ncikazi, who recently parted ways with the Buccaneers after being part of their technical team during the 2025/26 campaign, indicated that he believes he accomplished everything he had hoped to achieve during his time at the club.
Rather than focusing on the circumstances surrounding his departure, the experienced coach chose to reflect positively on his journey, highlighting the memories, experiences and professional opportunities he gained while working at Orlando Pirates.
Speaking about his decision to move on, Ncikazi made it clear that he was leaving with appreciation for the institution and everything it had contributed to his coaching career.
"I thought, with gratitude, where I'm coming from, I think I achieved everything as a coach. I'm grateful to the big institution and all the memories," said Ncikazi.
His comments suggest that he considers his chapter at Orlando Pirates complete, having spent an important period working within a demanding football environment where expectations are always high.
Ncikazi was part of the technical team that helped the Buccaneers enjoy considerable success across domestic competitions, including their historic treble-winning campaign during the 2025/26 season.
His departure marked the end of an important working relationship with the Soweto club, where he gained valuable experience while contributing to the team's achievements.
The coach has since returned to Golden Arrows, where he previously established himself before joining Pirates.
Although his time at Orlando Pirates has come to an end, Ncikazi's latest remarks demonstrate that he holds no public bitterness towards the club. Instead, he appears satisfied with what he accomplished and grateful for the opportunity to have been part of its history.
