Chiefs Keep Perfect Record Alive With 2-0 Win as Pirates Hammer Sekhukhune

Kaizer Chiefs stretched their unbeaten run to six matches in the DStv Diski Challenge after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Siwelele FC. The win keeps Amakhosi as the only side with a perfect record and opens a five-point gap at the top of the standings.

Tashiel Rugunanan opened the scoring for the Soweto giants before Teboho Mlangeni added the second. Both goals arrived at crucial moments and underlined the control Chiefs held throughout the afternoon. The result continues a strong run of form for the young side, who have looked organised and clinical in front of goal in recent weeks.

In the other highlighted fixture, Orlando Pirates thrashed Sekhukhune United 5-0 to climb to fifth place on the table. Edmilson Chaney and Siyabonga Ngwenya each scored twice, while Thurston Phillips added the other goal. The heavy defeat ended Sekhukhune’s three-game winning streak and showed the attacking threat the Bucs can carry when their forwards are sharp.

The Diski Challenge continues to serve as an important platform for young players aiming to break into the first teams of their respective PSL clubs. Matches such as these give coaches a clear view of who is ready for more senior minutes and who still needs time to develop. For Chiefs, the current run of results suggests several players are knocking on the door for opportunities higher up.

Pirates’ emphatic win will also please their technical team. Scoring five goals against a side that had been in decent form shows real attacking intent and the depth available in their reserve ranks. Both results will be watched closely by first-team coaches as the season progresses.

With Chiefs now holding a clear lead at the top and Pirates moving up the table, the competition remains tight among the chasing pack. The next round of fixtures will test whether Amakhosi can maintain their perfect start or if other sides can close the gap. For now, the Glamour Boys remain the side to beat in the Diski Challenge.
