As he aims to prioritise his health and personal well-being, Polokwane City head coach Willy Moloto has confirmed his resignation from the club, ending his spell in charge of the Betway Premiership side.
In a Tuesday morning interview with iDiski Times, Moloto confirmed his decision and explained that he needed a break from football to focus on his health. This occurred on November 3, 2026.
When questioned about his resignation, the coach was forthright, stating that he had formally resigned and that prioritising his own health was his top concern.
For the sake of my health, I have resigned, so yes, you are correct. If I'm going to prioritise my health, Moloto told iDiski Times.
His confirmation puts an end to speculation about his future with Polokwane City; the coach is officially resigning from his position there.
The decision was made so that Moloto could focus on his personal health instead of continuing with the demands of managing a professional football team, although he did not reveal any additional details regarding his health in his statement.
Polokwane City will now have to deal with the situation in their technical department as they contemplate moving forward without their head coach, which is a significant development due to his departure.
The Limpopo club plays in the Betway Premiership, a league where teams fight for crucial points all season long. Leading a top-flight team entails a lot of work, including coming up with strategies, managing players, and ensuring consistent results.
Even when games aren't in session, a head coach still has a lot on their plate between practices, developing the team, studying the competition, and other administrative tasks.
The decision to step down by Moloto emphasises the significance of personal health, especially for professional football managers who are constantly under pressure.
The coach has made his stance clear, stressing that his health must take precedence, so supporters will understandably wonder why he left.
After his departure, Polokwane City will have to figure out who will be in charge of the team going ahead. Although the club is looking into potential permanent appointments, it may have to settle for a temporary solution in the meantime.
While he did confirm Moloto's resignation, he did not make any official announcements about the club's immediate technical plans or about who would replace him.
Also, Moloto's future plans regarding coaching are still up in the air. His remarks thus far suggest that he would like to temporarily step away from his professional duties in order to concentrate on his health.
Polokwane City fans will be keeping a careful eye on the news as they wait for the club to address their concerns about its technical leadership.
Nevertheless, Moloto's current focus is on his own welfare rather than the needs of the dugout.
Polokwane City must now begin to plot their future without him as their coach, marking yet another change in the Betway Premiership.
