Orlando Pirates have reclaimed top spot in the Betway Premiership standings following their impressive 2-1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs in Saturday's Soweto Derby, while Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu remain firmly in the title race as the competition intensifies.
The Buccaneers moved to 25 points after nine league matches, recording eight victories and one draw. Their latest triumph at FNB Stadium not only secured bragging rights over their biggest rivals but also strengthened their position as early favourites in the race for the league title.
Mamelodi Sundowns occupy second place with 24 points from 10 matches, just one point behind Pirates. The defending champions remain within touching distance of the summit and will be eager to return to winning ways to avoid allowing their rivals to establish a significant advantage.
AmaZulu have also enjoyed an impressive campaign, sitting third with 22 points. Their strong performances have kept them among the leading contenders, making them an important part of the developing title race.
Milford FC occupy fourth position with 18 points, while Kaizer Chiefs have dropped to fifth following their derby defeat. Amakhosi have accumulated 14 points, the same number as sixth-placed Sekhukhune United, increasing the pressure on the Soweto giants to produce better results in their upcoming fixtures.
Chippa United are seventh with 11 points, followed by Stellenbosch FC and Kruger United, who have collected 10 points each. Durban City, Golden Arrows and Polokwane City occupy positions 10 to 12 with eight points apiece.
TS Galaxy are 13th with seven points, while Siwelele FC and Marumo Gallants occupy 14th and 15th positions respectively.
At the bottom, Richards Bay are experiencing a difficult campaign, having collected just three points without registering a league victory.
With several matches remaining, the standings could still change significantly. Pirates have taken the advantage, but Sundowns and AmaZulu remain determined to challenge for the summit, while Chiefs face growing pressure to close the gap.
