Manqoba Mngqithi Reveals Why He Left Young Africans SC

Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi has revealed that his departure from Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC was motivated by principles rather than the team's results on the pitch.

The experienced South African tactician, who joined the Dar es Salaam-based club after leaving Sundowns, has offered insight into the circumstances surrounding his exit, suggesting that factors beyond football performances influenced his decision to leave.

Mngqithi built a strong reputation in South African football through his contributions to Sundowns, where he worked in various coaching roles and played a part in the club's domestic dominance. His experience and tactical knowledge made his move to Young Africans an opportunity to demonstrate his abilities in a different football environment.

Young Africans are among Tanzania's most successful clubs, with a passionate fan base and significant expectations in domestic competitions and continental football. Consequently, coaching changes at the club often attract considerable attention from supporters and football observers.

However, Mngqithi's explanation indicates that his departure should not be viewed simply as a reaction to results or performances. By emphasising principles, the former Sundowns coach has suggested that professional considerations played an important role in determining his future at the club.

Although his comments have generated interest, the specific circumstances behind his decision have not been fully clarified. It would therefore be premature to draw firm conclusions about the nature of any disagreements between the coach and Young Africans' management.

His experience highlights the challenges coaches encounter at major football clubs, where expectations extend beyond preparing teams for matches and winning trophies. Relationships with management, working conditions and professional values can also influence whether a coach chooses to remain in a position.

For Mngqithi, his latest remarks suggest that maintaining his principles was more important than continuing in a high-profile coaching role.

Attention will now turn to the next chapter of his career as football followers await further clarification about his departure and his future ambitions in the game.
