Kaizer Chiefs Agree Terms With Bafana Bafana Superstar

Kaizer Chiefs Close In On Major Signing Of Bafana Bafana Star Elias Mokwana

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly on the verge of completing an important signing, with Bafana Bafana international Elias Mokwana expected to join the Soweto giants this week after an agreement was reached on personal terms.

According to SABC Sport, Amakhosi have made significant progress in their pursuit of the 27-year-old winger, with both parties agreeing on personal terms on Monday. The remaining details of the deal are now being finalised as the Naturena outfit looks to strengthen its attacking department.

However, the move is not yet officially completed. Mokwana must still undergo and successfully pass a medical examination before the transfer can be formalised. If everything proceeds according to plan, Chiefs could secure his services without paying a transfer fee, as the player is currently a free agent.

Mokwana became available in September after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with Tunisian giants Esperance de Tunis. His departure followed a loan spell at Saudi Arabian club Al-Hazem, where he spent the 2025/26 campaign.

The winger originally joined Esperance in August 2024 after impressing during his time at Sekhukhune United. His performances in the Premier Soccer League earned him an opportunity to play abroad and further establish himself as an international footballer.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Kaizer Chiefs have shown interest in securing Mokwana's signature. The club previously monitored his situation before he eventually chose to move to Tunisia in 2024. The latest developments suggest that Amakhosi could finally get their man after missing out on him during that transfer window.

His potential arrival comes at a crucial period for Chiefs, who are looking to improve their attacking performances under head coach Fernando Da Cruz. The team needs greater creativity, pace and consistency in the final third, particularly after experiencing disappointing results in recent competitions.

Mokwana's direct attacking style, ability to take on defenders and experience at international level could provide the technical team with another valuable option across the frontline.

For Amakhosi supporters, the possible signing represents an encouraging development as the club continues working towards building a stronger squad capable of competing for major honours.

Although an official announcement is still awaited, all indications point towards Mokwana being close to beginning a new chapter at Naturena.
