Brazil Name November Squad as Ancelotti Leaves Several High-Profile Stars Out
Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has announced his 26-man squad for the November international break, with the Seleção set to face Japan and Singapore in two friendly matches.
The squad, unveiled on Thursday, October 29, reflects Ancelotti’s continued efforts to refresh the national team and assess emerging talent. However, the selection has also attracted attention because several established players will not feature in the upcoming fixtures.
Brazil will take on Japan on November 14 before meeting Singapore on November 17. Both matches will be played at the National Stadium in Singapore and represent the team’s final international commitments of 2026.
Ancelotti has included a strong group of young players, with 15 members of the squad aged under 23. Five players — Allan, Alisson Santana, André Luiz, Jonathan Jesus and Marlon Gomes — have also received their first senior national-team call-ups.
The coach explained that the selection forms part of Brazil’s ongoing renewal process, as he looks to identify players who could contribute to the team’s future.
Among the notable absentees is Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker. His omission, however, does not appear to signal a change in his standing within the national team. Ancelotti made it clear that he remains confident in the experienced goalkeeper, explaining that there is little need to assess a player whose quality he already knows.
The Italian coach indicated that Alisson would be called up when preparations for the next Copa América begin. For the November fixtures, the goalkeeping positions have instead gone to Bento, Lucas Perri and Pedro Morisco.
Brazil will also be without forward João Pedro and defender Marquinhos, who have been left out because of injuries. Éder Militão is another familiar name missing from the selection after recently returning from an injury lay-off.
There is also a domestic-football consideration behind the squad. Players from Flamengo and Palmeiras, who are involved in the Brazilian league title race, were not selected following discussions between the clubs and the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). The decision was intended to avoid disrupting the teams during a crucial stage of their domestic campaign.
Despite the absences, Ancelotti has retained several prominent figures, including Vinícius Júnior, Raphinha, Endrick, Gabriel Magalhães and Bruno Guimarães. Their experience will be important as Brazil balance the introduction of new talent with the need to remain competitive.
The November camp will therefore provide an opportunity for less-established players to demonstrate their ability at international level, while giving Ancelotti a closer look at the options available to him ahead of future competitions.
