MATHYS TEL may soon find himself receiving an unexpected call-up to the French national team.
The forward has been outstanding with Roberto De Zerbi’s revitalized Tottenham squad.
Spurs have recorded three straight league victories, with Tel starting in the last two matches on the left flank against Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
His impressive solo goal that clinched the three points at Stamford Bridge even garnered a nomination for the Premier League Goal of the Month award for October.
The former Bayern Munich prodigy has faced challenges adapting to English football since starting his loan, which includes an option to buy, in February 2025.
Nonetheless, he appears to have rediscovered his form and has reportedly caught the attention of national team selectors.

As reported by L’Equipe, the 21-year-old is being evaluated by new France manager Zinedine Zidane for a position in his 23-man squad, which will be announced on Friday.
The French team is set to face Turkey and Italy in the Nations League, currently topping Group A.
Zidane will be without important forwards Ousmane Dembele and Esteban Lepaul, positioning Tel as a strong candidate for the No9 role if necessary.
He has experience in international football, having represented various age groups up to U21.

Last month, he scored a hat-trick while leading the team against Switzerland U21, significantly boosting his chances for selection to the senior team alongside his club performances.
However, he is contending with strong competition from Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram.
The experienced forward has been a fixture in the French national team in recent years, making a considerable impact in the last two World Cups.
He has scored five goals and recorded two assists in his first nine matches of the Serie A season, amassing 35 caps for his country.
If there was a perfect time to explore new options, now would be it.
Zidane has had only one prior international break with the squad — and with a commanding lead over his Group A opponents, this is the perfect opportunity to assess potential fits for his future strategies.
