Relebohile Mofokeng Attracts Interest From Another German Club as European Transfer Race Heats Up

South African football star Relebohile Mofokeng is attracting more attention in Europe, with another German club reportedly showing interest in signing the talented attacker.

The 22-year-old Bafana Bafana international has impressed since joining Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise from Orlando Pirates in July 2026. His performances have reportedly caught the attention of several European teams looking to strengthen their attacking options.

According to a report by The South African, German club SC Freiburg has joined Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen in monitoring Mofokeng's progress.

German publication Fussbal News reportedly revealed that both clubs are keeping an eye on the South African star. Dutch side AZ Alkmaar has also been mentioned as another possible interested club.

Mofokeng has enjoyed an impressive start to his European career. He has scored five goals and provided four assists in his first 15 appearances for Union Saint-Gilloise.

His performances have shown that he can play in different attacking positions, making him an important player for the Belgian side.

The former Orlando Pirates player also made a strong impression during his first appearance in Belgium. He scored the winning penalty against Club Brugge in the Belgian Super Cup, helping his new team lift the trophy.

He has also continued to make his mark in European competitions, including scoring on his UEFA Europa League debut against Viktoria Plzeň.

His good form has not gone unnoticed in South Africa either. Mofokeng has played an important role for Bafana Bafana during their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, including scoring twice against Eritrea.

He has also received a nomination for the Belgian league's October Player of the Month award.

Although interest from Germany and the Netherlands is growing, there is no confirmation that any of the clubs have made an official offer.

For now, Mofokeng remains contracted to Union Saint-Gilloise, and his performances could attract even more attention as the season continues.
