MNU VS AST: Man Utd's Official Starting Line-up Against Aston Villa

According to a report by London Evening Standard on Sunday November 8, 2026, Manchester United have confirmed their starting lineup for Sunday's Premier League meeting with Aston Villa, with Michael Carrick making several selection decisions as his team look to build momentum following their Champions League victory.

The Red Devils ended their disappointing winless run on Tuesday, producing a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory against Roma. Matheus Cunha scored twice late in the match, helping United overturn the situation and secure an important result.

Carrick had faced considerable pressure after United endured their worst-ever beginning to a Premier League campaign. Their position became increasingly concerning when Nottingham Forest defeated Manchester City, pushing United into the relegation zone.

However, the victory over Roma has provided renewed encouragement, and United will now be determined to continue their recovery against Aston Villa at Old Trafford.

Carlos Baleba will miss the encounter after suffering a hamstring injury during the Roma fixture. Carrick confirmed that the midfielder could spend several weeks recovering, ruling him out of the upcoming international break.

Harry Maguire, meanwhile, is expected to be available despite suffering a late injury concern against Roma. Lisandro Martinez will be absent through suspension following his red card during the defeat against Chelsea.

Patrick Dorgu could also return after making an unexpected appearance in training following more than a month out with a hamstring problem. His availability would provide Carrick with another natural option at left-back.

Kobbie Mainoo is expected to retain his midfield position, while Bruno Fernandes will captain the side from the attacking midfield role. Benjamin Sesko remains unavailable until the new year because of a shin injury.

Confirmed Manchester United starting XI: Lammens; Dalot, Yoro, Maguire, Mazraoui; Mainoo, Tielemans; Amad, Fernandes, Cunha; Mbeumo.

Substitutes: Darlow, De Ligt, Dorgu, Heaven, Andrey Santos, Fletcher, Mount, Lacey and Zirkzee..
