Updated WSL Table After Man Utd Women Won 1-0

According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday November 8, 2026, Manchester United Women claimed a narrow 1-0 victory against Aston Villa in the Women's Super League, thanks to Julia Zigiotti Olme's second-half header, which secured all three points for the visitors.

United began the contest positively, with Ella Toone and Simi Awujo creating early attacking opportunities. However, Aston Villa goalkeeper Akane Okuma produced several important saves to prevent the visitors from taking an early advantage.

Manchester United continued pushing forward, with Hinata Miyazawa hitting the crossbar in the 17th minute. Elisabeth Terland and Toone also threatened, but Villa remained organised defensively and worked to create opportunities themselves.

Aston Villa gradually improved their attacking efforts, with Amalie Vangsgaard and Lucia Kendall testing United goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce. Both goalkeepers delivered impressive performances, ensuring the first half ended without either side finding the breakthrough.

United made an attacking adjustment at halftime, introducing Andrea Medina to replace Jayde Riviere. Nevertheless, Villa continued searching for an opening, with Chasity Grant and Vangsgaard attempting to challenge the visitors' defence.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 72nd minute when Zigiotti Olme found the net with a close-range header. Hanna Lundkvist provided the decisive cross following a corner, giving Manchester United a deserved advantage.

Villa responded by making several substitutions, hoping to find an equaliser before the final whistle. United also introduced Lea Schüller, while Tullis-Joyce produced another important save to deny Elisabeth Terland during the closing stages.

Despite Aston Villa's attempts to rescue a point, Manchester United defended their advantage successfully. Zigiotti received a yellow card in the 88th minute, but the visitors held firm to secure an important WSL victory.
