Emile Heskey urges Liverpool to make move for Chelsea youngster Estevao

According to a report by Metro on Saturday November 7, 2026, former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has urged his former club to consider signing Chelsea youngster Estevao, describing the Brazilian as an excellent addition who could strengthen their attacking options.

The 19-year-old has struggled to secure regular playing time at Stamford Bridge this season under manager Xabi Alonso, despite showing glimpses of his enormous potential.

Estevao has managed just 134 minutes in the Premier League campaign, although he impressed during his first league start of the season against Manchester United last weekend.

His limited opportunities have reportedly raised questions about his situation at Chelsea, with Liverpool potentially viewing him as an attractive transfer target.

Heskey believes the youngster possesses the qualities needed to improve Liverpool's attack, particularly following the departure of Mohamed Salah.

Speaking to Eldorado, the former England international backed Liverpool to pursue a deal for the Chelsea forward.

"Estevao would be a great signing for Liverpool," Heskey said.

He explained that the Brazilian's direct attacking approach, ability to carry the ball and technical quality would provide something different to Liverpool's forward line.

"You look at what he would bring, his drive on the ball and everything, he's a very tidy player, and that is exactly what Liverpool still miss after losing Mohamed Salah, someone who is more direct," he added.

Heskey also believes Estevao's arrival would increase competition among Liverpool's attacking players and put pressure on the club's existing wingers to maintain their standards.

Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has previously dismissed suggestions that the teenager could leave Stamford Bridge on loan during the January transfer window.

When asked about the possibility of Estevao departing, Alonso simply responded: "No discussions about that."

The Spanish manager also defended his handling of the youngster, accepting responsibility for his limited playing time while praising his attitude and performances in training.

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has also spoken positively about Estevao, describing him as an exciting player with impressive technical ability and a direct approach.

Gerrard believes the Brazilian could create a selection headache for Alonso, particularly when Joao Pedro returns from injury.

He praised Estevao's hunger to attack and take shots, suggesting that the youngster has the potential to become an important player for Chelsea.

Although Heskey has encouraged Liverpool to make a move, there is no confirmation that the Anfield club have opened negotiations with Chelsea.
