Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has revealed the five footballers he would target if he had the opportunity to rebuild the club and restore its competitive strength.
According to the report by Football365, on November 7, 2026, his preferred list features Arsenal stars Gabriel Magalhaes and Declan Rice, Real Madrid teammates Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe, alongside Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise.
Discussing his selections, Scholes highlighted the qualities each player could bring to Old Trafford. Gabriel's physical presence, defensive awareness and aerial strength could help address United's problems at the back.
Bellingham would offer greater creativity and energy in midfield, while Olise's dribbling and attacking intelligence could make United more dangerous in wide areas. Mbappe, meanwhile, would provide exceptional pace and finishing ability in the final third.
Interestingly, Scholes also considered Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane before choosing Rice.
Explaining the importance of the Arsenal midfielder's inclusion, Rice offers defensive protection, leadership, ball recovery and excellent distribution.
Scholes' selections suggest that Manchester United need quality additions across several positions to compete for major trophies again. However, there is no confirmation that the club plans to sign any of the five players.
